Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon
|Date||Saturday, August 14 2021|
Welcome to the 36th Anniversary of the Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon
Team Magic was able to successfully host this event in 2020 following the necessary protocol for a safe race environment. We have the venue and date reserved, and will adjust this in-person race once again as necessary. We are committed to protecting the health and safety of our racers, staff, partners, and all event support in this process.
It is possible an Olympic distance will be added, depending on the status of the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact on our race setup. Stay tuned!
We will be monitoring the status of the COVID-19 pandemic and will remain in regular communication with our host community and partners to ensure we can produce a safe, in-person event that meets the guidelines for group gatherings in the event’s jurisdiction.
As one of the longest-running triathlons in the country, set in beautiful Oak Mountain State Park, the race honors the life of Buster Britton - one of the Birmingham area's original triathletes that lost his life in a fun run after completing the Hawaii Ironman only a short time earlier. Buster was a true inspiration for triathletes as the sport began to take shape in Alabama.
