Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon
|Date||Saturday, August 15 2020|
Welcome to the 35th Anniversary of the Buster Britton Memorial Triathlon
Join us at this beautiful Alabama State Park Venue for one of the longest running triathlons in Alabama. The race honors the life of Buster Britton - one of the Birmingham area's original triathletes that lost his life in a fun run after completing the Hawaii Ironman only a short time earlier. Buster was a true inspiration for triathletes as the sport began to take shape in Alabama.
We're excited to welcome a new Olympic distance to this historic sprint triathlon as this race moves a little earlier in the season. As always, this race is a great place for veterans of the sport to test their speed and for beginner racers and weekend warriors to enjoy a challenging and fun race. The swim in the calm Double Oak Lake is particularly inviting for those doing their first open water swim or who may view the swim as intimidating.
For 2020, due to the uncertainty surrounding our race taking place in Chattanooga as the USAT Clydesdale and Athena National Championship, this race is now serving as the championship race.
