Powerkids Duathlon & 1 Mile Run

 

Welcome to POWER SATURDAY, part of the Powerman Alabama Duathlon weekend!
Join Team Magic and the City of Irondale as we expand the popular Powerman Alabama weekend to include something for everyone. There are two kids events to choose from - the Power Miler and the Powerkids Duathlon get things started on Saturday as the crowd gears up for the most prestigious duathlon in the country on Sunday - the Powerman Alabama Duathlon. So, please join us in encouraging health and fitness by bringing your family and friends to participate.

 

If you do not have kids to bring to race, be sure to contact us to volunteer and cheer your youth to the finish line!

POWERMILER KIDS ONE MILE FUN RUN
Team Magic is joining up with Irondale Community School to hold the final test for community kids as they have built up to completing a one mile run. Join us in celebrating these kids reaching their goal!

 

POWERKIDS DUATHLON DETAILS
Age Divisions, Course Distances & Start Times PowerKids Duathlon
The PowerKids Duathlon is divided into five age divisions to insure all participants have a safe, fun event.

 

10:00 am - Age 3-4: 50 ft. run; 500 ft. bike; 50 ft. run
10:10 am - Age 5-6: 1/8 mile run; 1/2 mile bike; 1/8 mile run
10:30 am - Age 7-8: 1/4 mile run; 1 mile bike; 1/4 mile run
10:50 am - Age 9-10: 1/2 mile run; 2 mile bike; 1/4 mile run
11:20 am - Age 11-14: 1/2 mile run; 3 mile bike; 1/2 mile run

 

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT START TIMES AND AGE DIVISIONS:
Depending on registration statistics, age groups/start times/course distances MAY be changed. If there are changes, the age group awards listed below WILL remain the same.

 

AWARDS
POWERMILER ONE MILE FUN RUN
The boy and girl winner in each age from 4-14 will receive a medal. All finishers receive a Power Saturday logo finisher award.

WHERE IT HAPPENS
All event activities and the main staging area will be at the Irondale Community School on 16th Street, just off of Hwy. 78.

Irondale is located off of I-20 just a few miles east of downtown Birmingham and just 10 minutes from the Birmingham International Airport. The Birmingham International Airport is approximately 5 miles east of downtown Birmingham on I-20. The Atlanta International Airport is approximately 160 miles east of Irondale. Hotels listed are in Irondale and the City of Birmingham. From I-20 exit 132 Montevallo Road. Go south off of the exit to Hwy. 78 / Crestwood Boulevard. Go east (left) on Crestwood Boulevard to 16th Street. Take a left on 16th street. The Irondale Community School will be on your right.

 

PARKING FOR THE RACE
There are several businesses and organizations allowing us to use their parking lots for the race weekend. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: American Family Health Care on the corner of Crestwood Boulevard and Deering Street, ANY church parking lots, ANY of the residential streets of Irondale. You may park at: SuperPetz, Habitat for Humanity, Irondale Ballpark, YMCA of Irondale, and Bed Express. All of these lots are within 1/2 mile of the race site.

 

EVENT TIMING
The PowerKids Duathlon and the PowerMiler One Mile Run are all timed using electronic timing. They will pick up their timing device at the timing tent near the race start area and return it when they cross the finish line.

 

COURSE INFORMATION

POWERMILER ONE MILE RUN - will be on 16th Street in front of the Irondale Community School.

 

POWERKIDS DUATHLON - will be held on 16th Street in front of the Irondale Community School and other local residential roads of Irondale.
