Thanks for racing with us at the
Mountain Lakes Triathlon! On behalf of Team Magic, the City of Guntersville and All Event Sponsors - thanks for choosing to race with us in beautiful Lake Guntersville. You will receive an email this week asking you to complete an event survey. Please help us out by giving us your feedback so we can determine ways to make our events your first choice when you choose your races for the year! If you have not found them already, please find your race results here. You will note that your bike to run transition time is unfortunately not available to timing equipment failure. Please know that we do everything we can to provide you accurate, complete event timing. Our timing equipment has given us trouble this summer so we sent it in for maintenance during our three week break from Music City Triathlon to Mountain Lakes Triathlon. The equipment was supposedly fixed but obviously not. We apologize for the missed splits - you must know that we are not happy about this situation. Some of your splits in other areas may be missing as well - some of these also due to equipment issues, and perhaps some due to not crossing the timing mats, but again, this is an issue we have been experiencing and are doing our best to resolve. Our event timer has worked double overtime this summer to give as many of you your splits as possible from our back up timing system - it is labor heavy but he has been able to find this data for many - thanks to many long hours post race.
UPCOMING EVENTS Our next triathlon (Cedars of Lebanon Triathlon) is sold out and the waiting list is full - but we do have one more triathlon for you this season - we hope to see you at the Gulf in September. As you all know this is has been a very tough season for the communities along the Gulf of Mexico, but things are shaping up so we hope you will come join us for what will be a great triathlon and a great beach party! There will be more prizes than ever - great finisher awards, travel package give aways, technical race shirts, and this is also a Publix Family Fitness Weekend event so there will be food and drinks not only for racers but their friends and family! Read below for more on our final triathlon of the season.

GULF OF MEXICO UPDATE REGARDING THE
DEEP WATER HORIZON OIL SPILL: This raceWILL GO ON! Effective July 30, the Alabama Department of Public Health has lifted the swimming advisory for gulf waters off Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan based on improvements in water conditions. Should there be a swim advisory come race time, we will hold the swim portion in Lake Shelby at the Gulf State Park, only 1.5 miles from our host site at The Hangout. Lake Shelby was the home of the Sandman Triathlon for over 20 years, so racers from the 90's will remember this triathlon venue. Please join us and support the beautiful Gulf Coast of Alabama at this very difficult time. Look for extra special prizes, awards and travel packages this year - don't miss it!
