Look for signs to LOT R - parking is free. This is now Interstate Drive, stay in the right lane. Go through first traffic light (crossing over James Robertson Parkway) and through the second traffic light (crossing over Woodland Street). Take the next right onto Russell Street. Turn left onto 2nd street; follow directional signs to parking lots. From South of Nashville Proceed north on I-65 to I-40 east to I-24 west and exit on the Shelby Street exit. Go left at the light onto Shelby Street. Proceed over the bridge and through the light, to 2nd street, follow directional signs to parking lots. From East of Nashville Proceed west on I-40 to I-24 west and exit at Shelby Street. Go left at the light onto Shelby Street over the bridge and through the light. Go right on 2nd street; follow directional signs to parking lots. The race transition is in Lot R and event parking is in lots T, D and N plus lot R south of the Shelby Pedestrian Bridge. Race Packet Pick Up, Awards and Post Race Food will be in the green space between Lot R / Transition Area and Victory Avenue. <a href="http://team-magic.com/events/musiccity/mct_staging.pdf">Map of Staging Area Showing Flow from Swim to Bike to Run and all Key Areas</a> The Swim The swim will be in the Cumberland River, starting and finishing from the east side - not a point to point swim, but a rectangular type course. <a href="http://team-magic.com/events/musiccity/mct_swim.pdf">Swim Course PDF Map</a> Estimated Water Temperature & USA Triathlon Wetsuit Rules: The average water temperature in this area of the Cumberland River on this day is 81 F. There will be updates the week of the race on current water temperature. Wetsuits may be worn and considered legal by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wetsuit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit.   Swim Start Info: This will be a time trial start swim by assigned race numbers. This start is the most practical and safest start for the area we have to use at the Metro Parks East Bank Boat Dock. Racers will start on the boat dock at the south end and return to the north end of the boat dock using provided ladders to exit from the river back onto the dock. Volunteers will be on hand to provide direction and assistance. SPRINT RACE: Race numbers are assigned by estimated swim time, with the fastest swim time in the sprint distance race being assigned number 1. The sprint racers will start at 7:30 am, with a racer starting approximately every 3 seconds. Relay teams signed up for the sprint distance race will start at the end of all registered individuals in the sprint distance race. INTERMEDIATE RACE: The Intermediate Distance swim begins after the sprint distance swim. Race numbers are assigned by estimated swim time, with the fastest swim time being number 600. The first intermediate distance swimmer will enter the water approximately 5 minutes after the final sprint racer starts. Course buoys will be identified to all racers and kayak support on the water will also assist racers to stay on course. Swim Caps: Swim caps will be provided at packet pick up and must be worn for safety / visibility. Sprint and Intermediate racers will have DIFFERENT color caps. The Bike Thanks to TDOT - the Intermediate Distance bike course will be a two-loop 20k course totaling 40k on Ellington Parkway, which is a short hop from the stadium on downtown streets. Ellington Parkway is a four-lane highway connecting downtown to neighborhoods to the north and east of the city. It will be completely closed to traffic during the event but has fast moving traffic during normal traffic conditions - we do not recommend riding the course prior to the race due to high speed traffic and many on and off ramps that can be of danger to cyclists. Please note that Interstate Drive used to get you to and from Ellington Parkway is a ONE WAY road during normal traffic conditions - this road will be closed to all traffic during the race. Bikes will go BOTH ways on this road with cones separating bike flow. You will not be able to PRE-RIDE this section of the course prior to race day. CAUTION AREA 1. The section of road to and from Ellington Parkway has been prepared for new pavement. This is not a long section of road, so please just slow down in this area - save your speed for the newly paved Ellington Parkway! 98% of your bike course is awesome, smooth pavement - just please show caution in the areas noted above and on the access road from Main Street / James Robertson down to S. 1st Street.   IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ELLINGTON PARKWAY: While all four lanes are closed to traffic, racers need to stay in the RIGHT LANE as if the left lane is NOT AN OPTION. USAT officials WILL GIVE PENALTIES if you ride in the left lane. The short course event will be one 20k loop - same course as the intermediate. Course support: <a href="http://www.acmemultisports.com/">ACME Multisports</a> will be on-site both Saturday and Sunday and will provide course support on Sunday. You are allowed to accept assistance from official course support but not from another racer or an individual that is NOT part of the race staff or support team. <a href="http://www.mapmyride.com/run/united-states/tn/nashville/128124394965784137">Link to Map My Ride of Bike Course</a> <a href="http://team-magic.com/events/musiccity/music_city_bike.pdf">Link to PDF of Bike Course Map and Description </a> The Run The run course for the intermediate distance will be a two-loop 5k course totaling 10k of running a nice mix of the east side and the west side of the river in the downtown business district. Expect some hills and some flats - a very spectator friendly course. The short course event will be one 5k loop - same course as the intermediate. Change from 2010 Run Course: When you start the run, you will run under the Shelby Pedestrian Bridge and take a short out-and-back run on S. 1st Street. After turning around, you will then go over the Shelby Pedestrian Bridge. We needed to adjust the distance of the course due to a move in the bike transition area - thought a warm-up before the bridge was the best spot! Course support: Water and Energy Drinks will be offered at the run start, around mile 1 and 4, and around mile 2 and 5 and Intermediate Distance racers will pass the run start station as they pass below the transition area to begin the second loop. NEW FOR 2011: USAT annual members that register online for Team Magic races now have membership numbers and expiration dates approved through imAthlete.com and no longer have to show their USAT member cards at packet pick up. If there are any questions regarding your membership status you should receive a message from event management directing you to a check in area at packet pick up for "PENDING" issues. REQUIREMENTS AT USAT SANCTIONED EVENTS: 1. EVERYONE MUST SHOW A PHOTO ID 2. IF YOUR USAT MEMBERSHIP HAS EXPIRED, YOU MUST PAY FOR A NEW ANNUAL OR ONE-DAY MEMBERSHIP AND SIGN A WAIVER 3. EACH MEMBER OF RELAY TEAMS MUST BE AN ANNUAL MEMBER OF USAT OR PAY THE ONE-DAY MEMBERSHIP FEE. YOU MAY PICK UP A RACER'S PACKET IF THEY ARE NOT RACING, BUT NO TIMING CHIP OR BIB NUMBER WILL BE DISTRIBUTED. </div>   <a name="relays" id="schedule4"></a> RELAY TEAM INFO There will be a RELAY EXCHANGE TENT in the race transition area (<a href="http://team-magic.com/events/waterfront/cwt_transition.pdf">see map</a>.)  All relay members are to stay under this tent while waiting for your team member to bring you the timing chip.  Your exchange point will be AT THE TENT, not at the bike rack.  The biker will place the bike frame number on the bike, and the helmet number on the helmet.  The runner will wear the paper bib number.  The swimmer only needs the swim cap.  All relay members need TriTats race numbering.  You will pass the timing chip from swimmer, to biker, to runner. The relay teams will have a separate bike rack adjacent to the Relay Tent, not part of the main transition area. <div> <div align="left" class="sideTitle"><a name="logistics" id="schedule5"></a> Parking & Other Reminders</div> </div> 1. Parking is available in several lots around the stadium - T, D, N, P and R south. There will be police directing you to appropriate parking areas. 2. Trash & Recycling - we will provide containers for both. Please, please, please do the right thing and dispose of your trash in bags or containers provided and put your plastic and cans in the recycling bins. Nothing is worse than picking up a hot banana peel at the end of race day - help us out, thanks! 3. Award Ceremony - we will not be saving awards for those that cannot attend the award ceremony. If you are eligible to receive an award, please ask a friend to pick yours up. We really want you to stick around for post-race festivities and cheer on racers. Awards will take place as soon as possible after the last finisher - around 1:00 pm. 4. EVENT TIMING AND GETTING YOUR RESULTS & PHOTOS We use electronic timing chips, body marking, helmet numbers, bike frame numbers, numbered swim caps and bib numbers to insure we keep track of you during the race and hopefully get your results accurately. Thanks! 1. ALL athletes are required to show photo ID. 2. NO ID, NO RACE, NO EXCEPTIONS.  3. Every single participant must have a photo ID, this includes all relay participants. 4. Youth athletes without an ID must be accompanied by a parent/guardian with a photo ID.  5. Annual members are required to bring their membership card every time they compete in a USAT sanctioned event. 6. If your card has been lost, you can download and print out a temporary one at <a href="https://www.usatmembership.com/default.aspx">http://www.usatriathlon.org/member-services.</a>   7.     Athletes may only pick up their own packets. Under no circumstances may an athlete pick up a packet for another person. Regarding relays, all relay members must be present to receive the packet, or split up the relay packet for each participant. 8.     If an athlete does not bring a photo ID to packet pickup they must go home to get it   9.     If an athlete does not bring their USAT membership card to packet pickup they have three options: a. Go home to get it b. Find internet access where a temporary card can be printed c. Purchase a one-day membership for $10 which can later be applied to a membership renewal by submitting a receipt of purchase 10. Annual members do not have to sign a waiver at packet pickup because they already signed it when they applied to become an annual member. The race transition is in lower Lot R and event parking is in upper lot R and lot R south of the Shelby Pedestrian Bridge. Race Packet Pick Up, Awards and Post Race Food will be in the green space between Lot R / Transition Area and Victory Avenue. The transition area has bike racks assigned by participant race number range, 1-7 and so forth, so there will be 7 bikes per rack. When you complete your race, you will be able to gather your things using a designated exit gate only. No bikes can be removed until all bikes are out on the bike course - thanks for respecting this rule so we can minimize impact on those still racing when you have finished yours. <a href="http://team-magic.com/events/musiccity/mct_staging.pdf">Map of Staging Area Showing Flow from Swim to Bike to Run and all Key Areas</a> The Swim The swim will be in the Cumberland River, starting and finishing from the east side - not a point to point swim, but a rectangular type course. This swim course will be a great preparation for the USAT Age Group National Championship in Tuscaloosa, where Team Magic worked with USAT to develop the USAT National Collegiate Championship course in 2007-2008. <a href="http://team-magic.com/events/musiccity/mct_swim.pdf">Swim Course PDF Map</a> Estimated Water Temperature & USA Triathlon Wetsuit Rules: The average water temperature in this area of the Cumberland River on this day is 81 F. There will be updates the week of the race on current water temperature. Wetsuits may be worn and considered legal by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wetsuit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. Swim Start Info: This will be a time trial start swim by assigned race numbers. This start is the most practical and safest start for the area we have to use at the Metro Parks East Bank Boat Dock. Racers will start on the boat dock at the south end and return to the north end of the boat dock using provided ladders to exit from the river back onto the dock. Volunteers will be on hand to provide direction and assistance. Race numbers are assigned by estimated swim time, with the fastest swim time in the sprint distance race being assigned number 1. The sprint racers will start at 7:30 am, with a racer starting approximately every 3 seconds. Relay teams signed up for the sprint distance race will start at the end of all registered individuals in the sprint distance race. The process will be the same as the above for the intermediate distance race. The first intermediate distance swimmer will enter the water approximately 5 minutes after the final sprint racer starts. Course bouys will be identified to all racers and kayak support on the water will also assist racers to stay on course. Swim Caps: Swim caps will be provided at packet pick up and must be worn for safety / visibility. Sprint and Intermediate racers will have DIFFERENT color caps. Sprint will wear LIME GREEN and Intermediate will wear LIGHT BLUE. The Bike Thanks to TDOT - the Intermediate Distance bike course will be a two-loop 20k course totaling 40k on Ellington Parkway, which is a short hop from the stadium on downtown streets. Ellington Parkway is a four-lane highway connecting downtown to neighborhoods to the north and east of the city. It will be completely closed to traffic during the event but has fast moving traffic during normal traffic conditions - we do not recommend riding the course prior to the race due to high speed traffic and many on and off ramps that can be of danger to cyclists. Please note that Interstate Drive used to get you to and from Ellington Parkway is a ONE WAY road during normal traffic conditions - this road will be closed to all traffic during the race. Bikes will go BOTH ways on this road with cones separating bike flow. You will not be able to PRE-RIDE this section of the course prior to race day. The short course event will be one 20k loop - same course as the intermediate. Course support: <a href="http://www.acmemultisports.com/">ACME Multisports</a> will be on-site both Saturday and Sunday and will provide course support on Sunday. Expect some hills and some flats - a very spectator friendly course. The short course event will be one 5k loop - same course as the intermediate. Hello from Team Magic and thanks for registering for the Music City Triathlon or Music City Sprint Triathlon in our NEW downtown location! We are excited about our new race venue and hope all of you truly enjoy. With the new venue, we are still fine tuning our swim entry / exit plan. In the past, the swim portion for this event has been conducted by wave starts and if possible, we will do that at the new venue. However, in case it works out that we need to do a time trial start, we would like to collect your estimated swim time for 1500 meters for the Intermediate distance or if you are doing the sprint, your estimated time for 400 yards. We did NOT have this question on the online registration system when you registered - please take a moment to follow the link below to edit your registration to include this information.
