2011 Kaiser Realty Coastal Half Marathon

& 5k/ 1mi Run 11/26/2011 @ Orange Beach, AL

A message from our friends at ACME Multisports:

As most of you know, ACME Multisports entered into a merger agreement with Endurance Sports & Rec at the beginning of September. We knew there were many challenges to work through related to the merger, some simple and others more complex. We were optimistic we would be able to work this items out in order to provide the same customer experience in a Cool Springs location that our customers enjoy in Goodlettsville. Unfortunately, due to several complexities such as leases, vendor agreements, and logistics, we have come to the decision that it is not in the best long term interest of ACME Multisports to continue to operate the Cool Springs location. The last day will be this Friday Oct. 14th. We will continue to evaluate other innovative ways to make it more convenient for our customers south of Nashville to access all the products and supplies you need for training and racing, whether swimming, biking, or running. The Goodlettsville location will remain open with its regular hours and we look forward to continuing to serve the middle Tennessee triathlon community. Keep checking back here and watch for our email updates for exciting news!

A message from Team Magic's Fueling Sponsor, ACME Multisport

Triathlete Friends,

ACME Multisports and Endurance Sports & Recreation (ESR) have made it our mission to passionately support the sport we love by providing our community the best variety of top-of-the-line triathlon gear and unmatched support and service. We work hard everyday to be a welcoming resource for new athletes and to enhance the local triathlon experience for the Ironman veteran. We feel passionate about supporting local triathlon coaches, clubs, and race directors to build a stronger local athlete community making it more enjoyable for all of us that have been drawn to this sport.

Situated approximately 25 miles from each other, equidistant from Nashville to the north and south, we have always considered one another friendly competitors. Over the past 12 months we have engaged in several conversations regarding a possible merger of the two shops. We have spent many hours discussing the possible opportunities and challenges that would come with a merger and how we would execute this plan. With each conversation the owners of both stores became more excited about the opportunities this could present.

Recently, as some of you know, Dan Powell, owner of ESR was presented a great opportunity to take a new sales position and decided it was one he couldn't pass up. Over the past several days, Allen Curtis, co-owner of ACME answered Dan's call to partner with him and quickly put together a plan for managing the ESR store. It was decided the best solution was for Allen to step in and take over the day-to-day operations of ESR along with current role of managing the ACME store in Goodlettsville. We will be using a combination of ACME and ESR staff to run both stores and over the next month we will be defining the appropriate mix of ACME and ESR bikes, shoes and gear to carry in each store. This should prove to be a “win” for our customers as we introduce new brands of bikes and gear at both stores.

There are plenty of business details to resolve before the merger is official, but we are cautiously optimistic we can resolve all of these over the next month and officially announce the successful merger on or before October 1st. Dan will remain an owner in the combined entity and will continue to provide limited support in the store and at local events when time allows. We are excited about the new partnership!

ESR closing for Reorg/Restock
The ESR store will be closed today, September 2nd through Tuesday, September 6th as we restock the shelves with new inventory after our big sale this week and mix in some inventory from the ACME store. The ESR store will reopen on Wednesday, September 7th. ACME will be open regular hours all of these dates (closed Sunday).

Both Stores Closed this Monday, September 5th for the Labor Day holiday….ENJOY!!!

Best of the U.S. brings together the top amateur triathletes from every state, creating America's ultimate elite amateur wave. Each state has just one Qualifier Race, from which the top three men and women–– regardless of their age ––qualify to represent their state at the National Championship.

July 23-24 - Nashville, TN - For the 3rd year, this 33 year old triathlon will be held in downtown Nashville, adjacent to LP Field, home of the NFL Tennessee Titans. Two race distances are offered. Racers will swim in the Cumberland River, bike traffic free on a completely closed Ellington Parkway, and run through the heart of downtown Nashville's business and entertainment district. NEW this year is a Kids Duathlon on Saturday before the pre-race expo and packet pick up. The Intermediate Distance will be a USAT Southeast Region Special Qualifier for the USAT Age Group National Championship and the state of TN Best of the USA Amateur National Championship Qualifier. The Sprint distance race is part of the USAT Southeast Junior Development Series.
