All Saturday (Race Day) activities take place at the race site at the Orange Beach Sports Complex - see directions below
6:30 AM - 7:30 AM - Packet Pick Up and Late Registration OPEN

8:00 AM - Half-Marathon Starts
8:10 AM - 5K and 1 mile runs start
9:30 AM - 5k Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.
11:00 AM - Half-Marathon Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.
12:00 PM - All Half-Marathon entrants must have completed the course. This requires a pace of about 18 minutes per mile for walkers.

POST RACE ACTIVITIES On race day enjoy a great seafood brunch featuring fresh gulf seafood-post race food provided by BP

COURSE DESCRIPTION

HALF-MARATHON COURSE DESCRIPTION
A fun mix of paved trail through the Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Gulf State Park "back-country" along with stretches on the Gulf State Park main drive - all but about 3 miles is on the beautiful, back-country paved trail system. This system has been expanded each year since this event started, so we continue to adjust the course to take advantage of these amazing, peaceful trails.

5K & 1 MILE RUN DESCRIPTION
Both the 5k run & 1 mile run start behind the soccer fields on the service road and proceed west on the trail like the Half-Marathon course. The 5k will turn around at 1.5 miles and the 1 mile will turn around at a 1/2 mile. Both runs go straight back to the start line, which is now the race finish line. The 5k & 1 mile run will be completely on the paved back-country trail.

Half-Marathon Online Course

All Inclusive PDF Course Map - shows all 3 courses with Hydration Stations, Restrooms and Gel Options Noted

Water and Energy Drink will be available approximately every 1.5 miles on the half-marathon course and at the 1.5 mile turnaround on the 5k course.

Hammergel will be offered at the several water stations on the course, around mile 4.5, mile 8 and mile 11.

There will be mile marker signs at each actual mile - note that the water stations are not located at the mile markers, but instead at the most ideal geographic location approximately every 1.5 miles for the half-marathon.

Course Restrooms - Four Course Options:
1.Portable toilet before mile 3 at Gulf Oak Ridge Trail Head

2. Portable toilet before mile 6 after you exit E. Beach Blvd. onto the Rosemary Dunes Back Country Trail.

3. Indoor easily accessible restrooms are located near mile 8 just off the running trail junction of Rosemary Dunes and Catman Trail and near mile 10 in the Orange Beach City Hall area.

All courses are USATF certified courses beginning and finishing at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

PLEASE NOTE:

1. Please run AGAINST the traffic (so stay to your left) on the State Park Road 2 segment and on the E. Beach Blvd. / Hwy 182 segment.

2. Please run on the sidewalk around mile 10 as you exit the back country trail for a short distance. You will then turn left again onto some roads without sidewalks. Please stay left, running against traffic, through the area around Orange Beach City Hall.

All Team Magic events are timed using IPICO chip timing (also known as " shoe tags".) These timing chips are the property of Team Magic Inc. You will receive a timing chip on race morning. You must show your bib number to receive the timing chip to insure your race results are accurate. If you lose or do not return the timing chip - you will be charged a $15 replacement fee. An additional $1 a day fee is added for any chip not returned after 7 days. Volunteers will be at the finish line to collect all chips.

Helpful tips:
1. Secure the timing chip / shoe tag with provided zip ties.
2. No Timing Chip = No Time
3. Double check and make sure the timing chip is securely fastened and will stay on during your run.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS INFORMATION
For the half-marathon, top male and female runners in the open, masters and grand masters categories will also receive an Alabama RRCA Half-Marathon State Championship Award.

Top 3 OPEN Overall, Top 3 Masters(40+) Overall, top 3 grand masters (50+) overall & Top 3 Age Group Winners in 5-year intervals from 15 to 80+ & top 3 for 14 and under

Important Note About Our Event Awards
Team Magic hopes you will join us after each race for the awards ceremony - this is the grand finale of each event and is held very soon after the final race finisher.

Our awards are most often product awards and a recognition award of your placement. We do not ship awards or make them available for pick up after the awards ceremony is completed. Please make arrangements for someone to pick up your award at the event or plan on staying for the awards ceremony. Award categories are available on each race web page.

Preliminary results will be posted as soon as possible at the race site - the location will be announced by our race announcer. If you see that you will be receiving an award but cannot stay for the ceremony, please designate a fellow racer, friend, or volunteer to claim your award. All awards not claimed at the race site will be distributed to race sponsors, city officials, race supporters and at future race prize drawings.

Race Results: Will be posted at the event site www.team-magic.com as soon as possible and will be available online within 24 hours of the race.

Notes:
1. Please do not park in any grassy areas. There are plenty of parking spaces - keep driving to the southern lot - see map above.

2. Please use provided garbage cans for your trash - respect our host property

3. There are indoor restrooms on the south end of the staging field.

4. There are two portable toilets on the west side / adjacent to the indoor restrooms.

HALF-MARATHON COURSE DESCRIPTION:
For those that ran with us in 2009, the Half-Marathon course has a slight modification. It is a fun mix of paved trail through the Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Gulf State Park "back-country" along with stretches on the Gulf State Park main drive - all but about 2.5 miles is on the beautiful, back-country paved trail system. This system has been expanded each year since this event started, so we continue to adjust the course to take advantage of these amazing, peaceful trails. There is one short segment between mile 7 and 8.5 that is out and back - please stay to your right on this section as you will enter from the west, go south, then turnaround to head back north, then go east. Staying to your right will keep your running path nice and smooth without crossing or running into fellow runners.Map My Ride Course

5K & 1 MILE RUN DESCRIPTION
Both the 5k run & 1 mile run start behind the soccer fields on the service road and proceed west on the trail like the 1/2 Marathon course. The 5k will turn around at 1.5 miles and the 1 mile will turn around at a 1/2 mile. Both runs go straight back to the start line, which is now the race finish line. The 5k & 1 mile run will be completely on the paved back-country trail. IMPORTANT: For 5k & 1 mile run, please stay LEFT on the trail so when you return to the finish line, you will not cross or run into other runners still headed to the turn around.

Water and Heed by Hammer Nutrition will be available between every 1 to 1.25 miles on the half-marathon course and at mile 1 and 2 on the 5k course.

Hammergel will be offered at several Water Stations.

Portalets will be located near mile 4 where you turn left from the State Park Road 2 onto the Campground Road and around mile 10, where you leave the trail and go left on a sidewalk adjacent to Hwy 161. There are also restrooms located near mile 7 & 8.

1. NOT allowed...wheelchairs, pets, baby strollers, roller blades, head sets.

2. Please run AGAINST the traffic (so stay to your left) on the State Park Road 2 segment.

3. Please run on the sidewalk around mile 10 as you exit the back country trail for a short distance. You will then turn left again, onto a drive with no sidewalk... please also stay to your left here as you will re-enter the back country trail system to your left in a short distance.

Join us at Tacky Jack’s on Friday 11/26/10 11:30 am-2:30pm for packet pick up and Iron Bowl festivities! 14 TV’s on site to watch pre-game activities and THE GAME starting at 1:30pm (That is AL vs. Auburn for anyone that might not know...)

The results are in for the Kaiser Realty Coastal Half-Marathon & 5k run.

It was a great day at the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast!

Team Magic thanks our partners, the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission, the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, our title sponsor Kaiser Realty and all other sponsors and volunteers that made this event possible.

NOTE ABOUT THE 1/2 MARATHON DISTANCE:
Several runners brought to our attention that mile 10 of the 1/2 marathon course seemed a bit long... this is the mile that included a turnaround point. We did confirm that the turnaround marker was incorrectly placed a total of about 0.4 miles (so you ran about 0.2 miles too far to the turnaround point & back 0.2 miles for a total of 0.4 miles.) Your actual run distance was close to 13.5 miles - so an extra congratulations to all of you for making the extra distance. We do sincerely apologize for this course mishap. The course was a certified course, so the rest of your miles would be completely accurate.

You will receive an email soon with a post-race survey - we appreciate your time in taking this survey so we can continuously improve.

This was Team Magic's Final Event of 2009 - look for a 2010 calendar, online registration early entry fees, and an updated website soon! We look forward to seeing you back in Orange Beach on Saturday, November 27th for the 3rd edition of the Kaiser Realty Coastal Half-Marathon weekend!

THE COURSE HAS CHANGED FOR 2009 FROM 2008. The direction has been reversed - now a counter clockwise loop with more of the course on back country paved trail. About 1.5 miles of the course is on State Park Road 2, about 2 miles of the course is on the beach front road and about 1/2 mile on a "fire road" connecting runners from the beach front road back to the paved trail at Rosemary Dunes. This "offroad" section is packed down very well and perfectly nice for running.

5K & 1 MILE RUN DESCRIPTION

The 5k will turn around at 1.5 miles and the 1 mile will turn around at a 1/2 mile. Both runs go straight back to the start line, which is now the race finish line. The 5k & 1 mile run will be completely on the paved backcountry trail.

All courses are USATF certified courses beginning and finishing at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

Water and Heed by Hammer Nutrition will be available between every 1 to 1.25 miles on the half-marathon course and at mile 1 and 2 on the 5k course.

Hammergel will be offered at Water Station #3, #6 & #9.

There will be a portalet near mile 4.5 & 6.5 and restrooms near mile 9 & between mile 11 & 12.

PLEASE NOTE:

2. You are running a counter-clockwise course, so you will be running "against traffic" on the segments not on the Back Country Paved Trail. Please run AGAINST the traffic (so stay to your left) on the State Park Road 2 and E. Beach Blvd/Hwy 182 segments from around mile 3 to mile 6-1/2.

Friday packet pick up and late registration at Tacky Jack's Bar & Grill. All race day activities are held at the Orange Beach Sportsplex.

The South Baldwin Regional Medical Center & Christian Service Center are sponsoring a food drive - we are happy to be one of several locations to accept can goods during race weekend. You can bring your can goods to the Orange Beach Sportsplex on race day or to Tacky Jacks for Packet Pick Up.

Friday
11:00 AM - 3:00 PM - Packet Pick Up & Late Registration OPEN at Tacky Jacks Bar & Grill - Click HERE for directions. The Alabama vs. Auburn College Football Game will be playing at 1:30 pm - so come join us for lunch, the game and packet pick up with our sponsor Tacky Jacks!

$7.99 - All you can eat spaghetti dinner with salad, bread and tea or water plus all racers receive a 10% off card at packet pick up.

Saturday
All Saturday (Race Day) activities take place at the race site at the Orange Beach Sports Complex

8:00 AM - Half-Marathon Starts
8:10 AM - 5K & 1 mile runs start
9:30 AM - 5k Marathon Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.

11:00 AM - 1/2 Marathon Award Ceremony: begins with prize drawings and ends with prize drawings! Be sure to stick around.

12:00 PM - All Half-Marathon entrants must have completed the course. This requires a pace of about 18 minutes per mile for walkers.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES:
We know you are registered to run with us, but if you have friends or family traveling with you or if you are local to the area and might know a group or individuals that would like to volunteer, there is a direct link below for them to register to volunteer online.

Below is a link to an event survey and your event photos from brightroom.com. Also below please see important information about shipping your award if you were in fact in the award standings.

A complimentary entry to the November 28, 2009 Kaiser Realty Coastal Half-Marathon and 5k will be awarded to one lucky winner drawn from all that complete the event survey by the end of the day on Friday, December 5th!

We really appreciate your feedback - a few notes for next year based on our early assessment and some immediate post-race feedback:

1. We will have two additional water stations on the "beach road" stretch of the course.
2. We will have a couple of portable toilets on the course and will advise location
3. A specific, consistent order will be followed at each station on the course for distribution of energy gel, energy drink and water.

There are more, but just wanted to let you know we are excited to make the 2009 even better!

If you were an award winner:
As most of you know that stuck around for the awards, the category specific awards were not shipped to the correct location so they are being mailed directly to you. You did have to stay for the award ceremony to receive the GREAT product awards however - see below on cost to have those prizes mailed separately.

PLEASE ADVISE US AT therese@team-magic.com by noon on Friday, December 5th IF YOU HAVE A DIFFERENT MAILING ADDRESS THAN THE ONE YOU USED TO REGISTER ONLINE.

If you did not stay for the awards and would like the rest of your sponsor donated product prizes, you can send $20 for shipping and handling to the Team Magic mailbox (PO BOX 130178, BIRMINGHAM, AL 35213) and we will mail your award - you must complete this form and include with payment.
