Team Magic is excited to to be working with the great folks at Cedars of Lebanon State Park once again. The event consists of 300 yards in a great 50 yard outdoor pool, a 16.5 mile loop of beautiful, rolling hills around the park, and a 3 mile run completely within the state park.

GULF OF MEXICO UPDATE REGARDING THE
DEEP WATER HORIZON OIL SPILL:
This race WILL GO ON! Effective July 30, the Alabama Department of Public Health has lifted the swimming advisory for gulf waters off Gulf Shores, Orange Beach and Fort Morgan based on improvements in water conditions. However, the department warns that there may still be sporadic oil on or near the beaches and discourages individuals from entering waters if there is visible oil present. Conditions can change at any time of course so we will make our decision on a day-to-day basis if we are able to hold the swim portion of the race in the Gulf. Should there be a swim advisory come race time, we will hold the swim portion in Lake Shelby at the Gulf State Park, only 1.5 miles from our host site at The Hangout. Lake Shelby was the home of the Sandman Triathlon for over 20 years, so racers from the 90's will remember this triathlon venue.
Should we swim in Lake Shelby, we will shuttle swimmers to the swim start with buses and change the races to a swim/run/bike/run. The 1st run will be the 1.5 miles from the swim area to the race staging area and the 2nd run for both race distances will be shortened appropriately. Please join us and support the beautiful Gulf Coast of Alabama at this very difficult time. Look for announcements on special prizes, awards and travel packages soon!

New in 2010, someone on the Team Magic staff will visit any property we list to insure the quality our racers expect. Our goal is to provide a range of economical to more high end properties to satisfy our complete audience. If we do not have hotel options listed, unfortunately we were not able to secure any special rates for that event.
