THE BASICS:

1. You must present a photo i.d. and your USAT membership card (if you are a member) to receive your race packet. If you have lost your USAT card, please go to www.usatriathlon.org to print a temporary card.

If you do not have your USAT card, you will be required to pay the $10 one day fee. If you do not have a photo id, you will not be able to race.

If you are not a USAT member, you likely paid your $10 fee with your registration fee, if not, you will be asked to pay at packet pick up.

All youth 17&Under must be USAT members or can purchase a full year membership for $5 at the race site if you have not purchased already.

2. Biking before and after the event: the local police ask that you please obey traffic laws and wear a helmet when riding your bike before and after the event.

3. All racers must wear a timing chip to be scored. You will pick up your timing chip during packet pickup and return it at the race finish line. If you cannot complete the race, please turn your chip in at the finish line.  If you do not turn in your chip, you will be billed for $35 + an additional $1 a day for chips not returned within 7 days of the event date. Please also remember to return the velcro strap – there is a $5 additional charge for missing straps.

4. Wrist Bands: We will be placing a wrist band on each racer when you pick up your race packet. This wrist band is your "full access" pass to all areas of race weekend that are limited to racers, race staff, and race officials. Please keep this band on for identification purposes. It is intended to be for your safety and to control the race atmosphere. Your wrist band is your one-time access to the post race food area - volunteers will take your band at that time.

5. Race Location:
All event activities will be held in and around Kelly Ingram Park in DowntownBirmingham and at the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. Late registration and packet pick up for all events will take place in "the Commons Room." The address is 520 16th Street North, Birmingham, AL 35203.

Below are driving directions on how to get to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute - below these directions are directions for other visitors and spectators that are driving to the area during race hours to avoid closed roads.

Via I-65 North
From I-65, take I-20/59 Northeast towards Atlanta. Exit at the 17th Street Exit (it is the first exit off I-20/59). Bear right and proceed to the light. From that light go two blocks to 6th Avenue North. Turn right on to 6th Avenue North. The Institute is one block up on your left.

Via I-65 South
From I-65, take I-20/59 Northeast towards Atlanta. Exit at the 17th Street Exit (it is the first exit off I-20/59). Bear right and proceed to the light. From that light go two blocks to 6th Avenue North. Turn right on to 6th Avenue North. The Institute is one block up on your left.

Via I-20/59 North (from Tuscaloosa)
From I-20/59, heading towards Gadsden/Atlanta take the 17th Street Exit. Bear right and proceed to the light. From that light go two blocks to 6th Avenue North. Turn right on to 6th Avenue North. The Institute is one block up on your left.

Via I-20 West
From I-20 West merges into I-59 South. Then take the 22nd Street Exit. At exit take left and proceed up three blocks to 6th Avenue North. Take a right on 6th Avenue North and go down to 16th Street. The Institute will be on your left.

PARKING FOR THE RACE

1. There is limited parking in a lot behind the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute on 15th Street.
2. There is plenty of parking available as "street parking" in the area surrounding the race site - there is no meter charge after 5 pm on Friday or during the weekend.
3. DO NOT park in any church parking lots as they will have you towed.
4. Be sure to observe signs at downtown businesses that say NO PARKING OR YOU WILL BE TOWED.
5. Be sure not to park at any "Covered Meters" - this indicates that this road is part of the race course.

Directions for visitors and spectators arriving during race hours:

-From I-65 North/Southbound- Take 20/59 Eastbound to 17th Street Exit.
Turn Right onto 7th Avenue North, Left onto 15th Street and park where
available.

-From 20/59 Westbound- Take 22nd Street Exit. Turn Right onto 8th
Avenue , Left onto 17th Street, Right onto 7th Avenue North, Left onto
15th Street and park where available.

-From 31/280 Northbound- Take 1st Avenue North Exit. Turn Left onto
1st Avenue North. Turn Right onto 21st. Watch for Bicycles at 6th Ave
North - EXPECT DELAYS. Turn Left onto 8th Avenue North, Left onto 17th
Street, Right onto 7th Avenue North, Left onto 15th Street and park
where available.

ALL ROUTES- After parking, walk one block east to Civil Rights
Institute, 16th Street Baptist Church, and Kelly Ingram Park.
