The Company:
Based in Birmingham, Alabama, Team Magic, Inc. has been producing multisport events for over twenty years. While triathlons and duathlons are the main focus and make up the majority of the events, Team Magic also has worked and currently works with several running events, including Birmingham Race for the Cure, the Mercedes Marathon, the Marathon Olympic Trials hosted by the Mercedes Marathon, the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge in Chicago, the Jingle Bell Jog for Arthritis, the JCC Montclair Thanksgiving run, and most recently Team Magic has been appointed as race management for the 2007 USA Triathlon National Collegiate Triathlon Championship.

 

Team Magic regularly receives the honor of hosting championship events for USA Triathlon, including regional championships, grand prix series events, world championship qualifiers, and in 2006 Team Magic played host of the USA Triathlon National Sprint Championship at our Mountain Lakes Triathlon in Guntersville, Alabama.

 

In 2007 Team Magic was honored to be named race management for the USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship and will hold the same responsibility in 2008. Additionally, Team Magic has been appointed to manage one of only three Olympic Trials that qualify the USA Triathlon Team members for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

 

Expanding to Nashville:
In 2001, Team Magic began expanding into Tennessee with the Powerman Tennessee Duathlon, held about 30 miles outside of Nashville in Williamson County. In 2002, the Old Hickory Lake Triathlon was added in Hendersonville, TN, about 30 miles from Nashville. In June 2003, another triathlon was added in McMinnville, TN, about 70 miles from Nashville and Chattanooga. This triathlon was a huge success with great reviews from beginners and elite racers. In 2004, the Cedars of Lebanon Triathlon was born at the beautiful Cedars of Lebanon State Park about 35 miles from Nashville. In 2005, two new races were established in Tennessee....the GJCC Memorial Day Triathlon brings a true beginner triathlon to metro Nashville and the Chattanooga Waterfront Triathlon is now Team Magic's premier intermediate distance triathlon in downtown Chattanooga.

 

Directors:
Team Magic is co-owned by Therese Bynum and Faye Yates. Bynum and Yates serve as race directors at all events.

 

Therese Bynum received her undergraduate degree from the Mississippi University for Women and her post-graduate degree from University of Alabama at Birmingham.

 

Faye Yates received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University.

 

In 2008, Carrie H. Rollins joined Team Magic with a primary role in marketing and public relations.
